A little quickie
Ok, so this is going to be a little different. On March 8th 2011, hundreds of thousands of fish mysteriously die in King Harbor near Redondo Beach. 3 days later, March 11th 2011, a massive 9.0 earthquake strikes Japan.
So what does one thing have to do with the other?
Nothing, everything, very little at all. I'm not sure yet, I'm still looking for a connection, if there is one.
So why the HELL are you writing about it!?
Well, here's the thing... On April 19th 2011...it happened again. This time, in Ventura Harbor, 6 tons of Anchovies and Sardines (King Harbor was 140 tons) suddenly died.
Just a little trivia in case your wondering the average sardine weighs 150 grams and there are 454 grams in a pound. So there is an average of 3 sardines in a pound (give or take). That averages out to about 6000 sardines per ton. King Harbor = 840,000 dead fish. Ventura Harbor = 36,000 little stinkers.
Anchovies are of course smaller so you have quite a few more per pound.... but I think you get the idea....it's A LOT of dead fish.
Now here's the rub.... Some scientists claim that the fish died by using up all of the oxygen in the limited space of the harbor (although I have heard that neuro-toxin was found during the autopsy or necropsy, take your pick, of the fish bodies.), but these same scientists are completely baffled as to why the fish were there in the first place. There were speculations about the King Harbor incident being caused by the presence of a large predator off the coast and the bait-fish were fleeing. However, with the Ventura incident, the fish began arriving in the harbor several days ago, so it was an organized arrival and not a sudden run into the harbor. Also, I find it curious that the Vetura Harbor is almost 3 times the size of King Harbor, yet the fish used up the oxygen at population levels 23 times smaller. It kinda makes me doubt the official "cause of death". But anyways, I digress...the point is, yesterday we had an event that paralleled an event that occurred 3 days before a massive earthquake. If there is a connection between King Harbor and Japan...I'm still looking... are we going to have another massive quake somewhere on the 22nd, and if so, WHERE? I guess I will revisit this post on the 23rd and we will find out together.
