Quick Bone to pick.
Did anyone else out there know that woody from Pixar's Toy Story is gay?
I don't normally get up on a soapbox here in my blogs, but I feel that I absolutely must say something about this.
In a recent PSA for the "It gets better project" a series of know gay and lesbian stars came out against bullying towards homosexual teens. One after another, they gave their message of "Even though you are being bullied in school, it get's better. And when you grow up you will be accepted for who you are."
Basically the campaign is designed to give these teens hope so that they don't kill themselves over the bullying.
I APPLAUD THE MESSAGE! Sorry for yelling, but I wanted to make that clear before I go off on the one problem I have.
WOODY FROM "TOY STORY" WAS ONE OF THE "STARS".
If Tom Hanks, who voices the character, wants to get involved in this most worthy cause, more power to him. Dress up like Forest Gump and sit on a park bench, or put on a uniform and Save Private Bullied.
However, my 6 year old son does not need his favorite hero Woody telling him "It's okay to suck another guys pecker!" Forgive me for my crudeness. If what the gay and lesbian community say's is true, and you are born homosexual (the jury is still out on that one, but I suppose it's possible), isn't 6 years old a little young to be making ANY sexual decisions.
Hello people, in most states it is ILLEGAL to have sex before you are 18.
I am all for getting behind my children if they were to come to me as an adult and say, "I'm gay". I will not stop loving them or push them away. But I would not support them having sex with ANYONE before they are 18. No matter what sex they are!
My children range in age from 21 to 6, as they get older, I allow them more and more freedom to express themselves but there are always limits. I won't let my 16 year old daughter dress like a slut, until he turned 18 my eldest son wasn't allowed to wear his pants "sagging" below his ass. And none of them are suppose to have sex until they are 18, THAT"S THE LAW!
There are certain decisions that should be made by the parents, not by the children. For Pixar to use a character that is specifically marketed to the under 10 age demographic, to promote ANY sexual lifestyle is FUCKING WRONG!!!!!!!
That's just naive, the kids of this generation are going to have sex by the time they are 16. That's just the way life is these days.
Bullshit! Abstinence is gaining in popularity. But that's not the point. I understand that teenagers are going to want to have sex. But shouldn't I be the one telling my children what is right and what is wrong?
Okay, picture this for a PSA...The scene opens with Snow White in the kitchen of the seven dwarfs house, she's washing the dishes and looks up at the camera, "Oh hello, I'm so happy to see you!" (cue the little woodland creatures) "I want to tell you something very important. Always make your dwarfs where condoms when they gang bang you. You never know where they have been. Or who they've been with...It could have been the evil witch in disguise." (cue dramatic music...DUM DUM DUUUM)
SNOW WHITE WOULD NEVER DO THAT!
Ridiculous right? Why is that any different? Promiscuity, is a common sexual lifestyle just like homosexuality. And wearing a condom to prevent sexually transmitted diseases is something every sexually active person should do. Why do we find that PSA any more distasteful then the one with Woody promoting homosexuality?
Because being a homosexual is politically correct, and socially acceptable (or at least Hollywood wants it to be), and laying down so a group of men can have their way with you isn't!
I am not going to sit here and lecture on whether homosexuality is right or wrong, that is a choice that can only be made by the individual. I am also going to say emphatically that teen suicide intervention is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! The "It gets better" campaign is doing a damn good thing to try to boost the self esteem of the victims of bullying.
BUT DON'T TRY TO FORCE YOUR VALUES ON MY CHILDREN!!!
People get angry and protest and picket and endlessly debate and even file lawsuits, to prevent a religious group from teaching their morality to today's children. Who is protesting the homosexual group that is trying to teach their version of morality to my children?
You can't have it both ways! Either it is wrong to teach a specific point of view or it isn't. If it is okay to teach children that homosexuality as a way of life is acceptable, then you have to let abstinence, celibacy, promiscuity, prostitution, bestiality, incest, polygamy, and every other "sexual lifestyle" be taught as well.
That's ridiculous, some of those things are illegal! You can't tell our children it is acceptable to break the law!
Guess what, for someone under the age of consent, homosexual sex is just as illegal as bestiality. In fact, so is heterosexual sex, oral sex, "heavy petting" and any other sexual contact. So how come it is acceptable to promote those illegal behaviors, by giving our children condoms, running adds for planned parenthood on MTV, and having cartoon characters tell them it's okay?
If you want to be picky, the only thing that should be taught and promoted to minors is abstinence and celibacy. Because, of all the "sexual lifestyles" in the world today, it is the only one that is legal for a child to engage in.
I like Pixar and the "Toy Story" franchise and I love Tom Hanks, but they made a bad decision here. Teaching sexual preferences and morality to the 10 and under demo of Toy Story is a job that should be left to the parents. I don't tell my 6 year old about the birds and the bees, because in the opinion of my wife and I (the only opinions that count) HE IS TOO YOUNG! So when he comes up to me and asks, "Daddy, why does Woody say 'it gets better'?" I am going to take what ever channel he is watching off his TV. Because, they are teaching him something he doesn't need to deal with yet.
Let our children be children! If a little boy says, "Eeeewwww, girls are gross!" It's because girls have cooties, not because he has unexplored homosexual urges. You don't need to rush out and get him a book about why little Johnny has two mommies. Do our children really need to be taught about sexual preferences before they stop believing in Santa Clause?
Hollywood, the news media, and even our President as well as members of Congress are all promoting homosexuality, same sex marriage, adolescent sex, even teen pregnancy, and many many other things that are of "questionable moral value".
HEY! You can't say...
Wait, wait, wait, Before you get on a rant and call me a homophobic asshole, I am not saying anything there is immoral, I am saying that, if anyone questions whether it is, then it is of "questionable moral value". My personal views on what is morally acceptable are irrelevant, what matters is this; these entities in our country are promoting behavior that falls under the category of "should be taught in the home". If a parent is "Conservative" and wants to raise their children in a "conservative" household, the government, media, and "Hollywood" has no business teaching them otherwise. Just like an atheist doesn't want the government teaching their children "Creationism", I don't want the government teaching my children about "alternative lifestyles" at age 6.
Oh and just a little bit of history for you, the Greeks, the Romans, the Assyrians, the Egyptians, The Byzantine empire, Germany, even "the Church" all fell from world dominating power not long after they began to accept "Morally questionable behavior" as a mainstream way of thinking.
That isn't what brought those down, some were defeated and the Church hasn't fallen!
Au contraire, mon ami! When greed, avarice, personal pleasure, and selfishness become the "standard" everyone lives by, the society collapses. Each and every one of those examples, got greedy and/or tried to move away from the moral "high ground" that they started on. All because of the popularity and ease of being immoral. Let's face it, it feels good to be bad, especially when it comes to allowing ourselves to have or do whatever we want. "I had a piece of cake because it tastes good and I wanted it." is one thing, "I shoved a strangers entire wedding cake in my mouth because it tastes good and I wanted it." is something completely different.
When we put ourselves above all else, when we give free rein to what feels good, or what is easy, or "Politically Correct" because we may offend someone else who is doing it, that is when a society begins to collapse. A world power cannot be conquered from without, only from within.
Wall Street scandal, corporate greed, giant oil spills in the gulf, teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, political sex scandals, "Weinergate", Lindsay Lohan, what do they ALL have in common...
SELFISHNESS!
Our society, our press, and our government reward and promote all of those things....
Is your frog boiling yet?
