End of the world part 2.5 ELENIN (START HERE)
Alright, I'll do it. I have been working hard on Part 3 of this series regarding 2012, but it seems we have something a little sooner that could kill us all. Comet C/2010 X1 also known as Comet ELENIN.
For those of you that haven't heard, I will give you a brief overview of a controversy brewing between NASA scientists and quite a large number of people outside of Government influence.
Wait why would anyone argue with the boys at NASA? Aren't they the experts on everything that is space?
Yes, the "Boys at NASA" are experts, but they are experts under direct control of the U.S. Government, specifically the office of the Vice President (who is the chairman of the National Space Counsel), the Department Of Defense, and more recently the U.S.A.F. Space Command has been "Providing Oversight" for more and more NASA projects. NASA is suppose to be a civilian organization, yet their largest "customer" is U.S. Space Command. Hence the "Oversight".
How can NASA be controlled by the military if it's Civilian?
It always has been, in a round about sort of way, through the U.S. Strategic Command Human Space Flight "Support" Detachment 3. To quote their fact sheet.
"Detachment 3, 45th Operations Group is the office that coordinates DOD contingency support to our nation's human space flight programs. Chartered in 1959 by the Secretary of Defense, the DOD Mercury Support Office and renamed later that year, the DOD Human Space Flight Support Office (DDMS) was formed with the express purpose of providing DOD support to this nation's human space flight effort . . . putting people into space and returning them safely to Earth. Since those early days, the office has continued to be the focal point for all DOD contingency support to Projects Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, the Apollo/Soyuz Test Project; the Space Shuttle Program, the International Space Station (ISS)/Soyuz Program; the Orion Program, and the Presidential commercial space initiative (And I thought Virgin Galactic was legit). This support includes astronaut and space vehicle recovery, worldwide communications, logistics and medical support."
So here is the problem, there is an object out in space, that is on a trajectory that will bring it VERY close to this planet. NASA says one thing about it, but there are too many things that don't add up in what they are saying. So you have a huge number of people outside the influence of our government who are yelling and screaming "The Sky is Falling! The Sky is Falling!" I will give you both points of view followed by my opinion, the evidence and reasons why I believe what I do and then you can decide for yourselves.
NASA's stance, as quoted from their own website about Comet Elenin. The lnk is below if you would like to read it yourself.
NASA ELENIN Press Release
...Comet Elenin should be at its brightest shortly before the time of its closest approach to Earth on Oct. 16 of this year. At its closest point, it will be 35 million kilometers (22 million miles) from us. Can this icy interloper influence us from where it is, or where it will be in the future? What about this celestial object inspiring some shifting of the tides or even tectonic plates here on Earth? There have been some incorrect Internet speculations that external forces could cause comet Elenin to come closer."
Hmmmmm kinda interesting for NASA to go out of it's way to address this instead of just giving facts like they normally do in press releases. I'll continue the quotes.
""Comet Elenin will not encounter any dark bodies that could perturb its orbit, nor will it influence us in any way here on Earth," said Yeomans. "It will get no closer to Earth than 35 million kilometers [about 22 million miles]. "
"Comet Elenin will not only be far away, it is also on the small side for comets," said Yeomans. "And comets are not the most densely-packed objects out there. They usually have the density of something akin to loosely packed icy dirt.
"So you've got a modest-sized icy dirtball that is getting no closer than 35 million kilometers," said Yeomans. "It will have an immeasurably miniscule influence on our planet. By comparison, my subcompact automobile exerts a greater influence on the ocean's tides than comet Elenin ever will."
Yeomans did have one final thought on comet Elenin.
"This comet may not put on a great show. Just as certainly, it will not cause any disruptions here on Earth. But there is a cause to marvel," said Yeomans. "This intrepid little traveler will offer astronomers a chance to study a relatively young comet that came here from well beyond our solar system's planetary region. After a short while, it will be headed back out again, and we will not see or hear from Elenin for thousands of years. That's pretty cool."
So that's not too bad. NASA says it won't bother us at all. Why are we worried about it then? It Sounds like it will be kinda fun to watch.
It sounds like smoke being blown up our collective asses to me.
Alternative Stances.
Put simply there are two plausible alternative theories out there.
1. That this object is not a comet at all, but is something far denser and larger.
2. That the comet is actually being influenced by objects within our solar system and is actually on a collision course with Earth.
I will give you the evidence and arguments for both, but I am going to start with theory 2 because this theory cannot be proved nor disproved until this thing blows past us or slams into us.
Okay, for those of you who may not be as connected with NASA and or astronomy, there is a discussion board created by NASA for fellow astronomers, scientists, and space buffs to discuss the latest news. It's called the Buzzroom. This was a wonderful site where you could hear and see all the latest news and talk about what was going on.
On March 2nd and 3rd of this year, there was a discussion taking place about ELEnin and several scientists were discussing a change in the estimate as to how close ELEnin would get to Earth. One of them said,
"these are my calculations, but I've revised the 0.24AU's down to
0.0004617 AU's on 21.42pm 16th Oct 2011." For the layman out there an AU or Astronomical Unit is equal to the distance between the Earth and the Sun (about 149,597,870 Kilometers {92,955,807 Miles}).
0.24 AU's = 35,903488.8 Km (22,309,393.68 Mi.)
0.0004617 AU's = 69,069.34 Km (42,917.69 Mi.)
The average distance from Earth to the Moon is 384,403 km (238,857 miles).
This discussion went on for several more minutes. With various people "doing the math" and multiple people from around the globe agreeing with this particular scientist. A few days later, the feed for that discussion was pulled and not only that NASA CLOSED THE SITE> (Cue dramatic music...DUM DUM DUUUUM!)

Now my source of this information is here.
So having said all of that, you can take this at face value or do further digging on your own. However, if NASA isn't lying about what this thing is, but they are about how close it will come. It seems to me, and I am no astrophysicist, an object that is closer to our planet then some of our geosynchronous satellites just might be influenced by our gravity enough to cause it to actually collide. And we have seen what happens to a planet when a comet collides with it. Remember Jupiter and comet Shoemaker/Levy 9. back in 1994.
If that were true the government would warn us, so we could hide and take shelter.
You cannot be that naive. There was a movie once called "Deep Impact". Great movie, perfect example of art imitating life.
WOW, I'm actually running out of room here. I guess I'll start a new one and post them in order.

NASA ELENIN Press Release
May 04, 2011
You may have heard the news: Comet Elenin is coming to the inner-solar system this fall. Comet Elenin (also known by its astronomical name C/2010 X1), was first detected on Dec. 10, 2010 by Leonid Elenin, an observer in Lyubertsy, Russia, who made the discovery "remotely" using the ISON-NM observatory near Mayhill, New Mexico. At the time of the discovery, the comet was about 647 million kilometers (401 million miles) from Earth. Over the past four-and-a-half months, the comet has – as comets do – closed the distance to Earth's vicinity as it makes its way closer to perihelion (its closest point to the sun). As of May 4, Elenin's distance is about 274 million kilometers (170 million miles)......Comet Elenin should be at its brightest shortly before the time of its closest approach to Earth on Oct. 16 of this year. At its closest point, it will be 35 million kilometers (22 million miles) from us. Can this icy interloper influence us from where it is, or where it will be in the future?
